River Trail Cycles, LLC

March 2014 | Onalaska, WI

In 2007. Emily Vance opened her own bike shop in Holmen in a leased facility. Emily had over 16 years of experience in the bicycle industry, selling parts and accessories as a sales representative for a wholesale bike supplier. River Trail Cycles specializes in the selling of bikes, clothing, accessories, the repair of bikes, and bike rentals. Each member of the River Trail Cycles’ staff has years of experience in the cycling community.

In September 2012, Emily saw an opportunity to expand her business by building a new and much larger facility in nearby Onalaska. With the help of an SBA 504 loan provided by WBD and financing through Community Credit Union, she was able to purchase property and construct a building that suites the growing business’ needs. The new facility is located on the Green River State Bike Trail and in close proximity to the local YMCA. This bike trail is viewed as one of the most scenic places to ride in western Wisconsin. This project  increased the tax base and enabled a woman owned business to expand and create 2 jobs, supporting the community development in Onalaska.
