New Challenges provides innovate individualized services to people confronted with physical, developmental or emotional challenges. New Challenges believes people can best overcome challenges and reach their dreams when they are an active part of the community and have minimal restrictions. 

 

Started in 1999 by Leeann Metzmaker, New Challenges builds their services to match the resident's needs and desires. They currently serve over 100 people who live in 40 homes and two apartment buildings. The staff at New Challenges is committed to meeting the needs of the people seeking their services in a manner that is both respectful and professional. Activities offered to residents include karaoke nights, potlucks, movies, arts and crafts, bowling nights, gardening, bingo and trips to various local attractions including music festivals, conservatories and farmers markets. 

 

With the help of an SBA 504 loan provided by WBD and financed through Venture Bank, The company was able to purchase a 20 unit apartment complex. The new complex has a handicapped accessible front entrance, and each unit features its own bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. There is also a large community room and library. Thanks to the purchase the company was able to add two caregivers to the staff.
