In 2009, James and Jennifer Marino purchased Angelic Bakehouse under the previous name Cybros from the Cyrus family who founded the bakery in 1969, falling in love with the bread after just one bite. They aim to provide the best quality products that are nutritionally superior but never sacrifice the taste and pure enjoyment of daily bread. Angelic promises to use only non-GMO ingredients, pure honey sourced from the USA, and to never add any artificial sweeteners, fats, or preservatives. Angelic is also one of only a handful of bakeries in the US that produces fresh sprouted grain baked goods.
In April 2013, Angelic was outgrowing their current facility and the owners saw an opportunity to expand. With the help of an SBA 504 loan from WBD and financing through BMO Harris Bank, they were able to purchase land, construct a building, and purchase equipment. The purchases and construction allowed Angelic Bakehouse to create 15 jobs and retain 6 employee positions promoting economic development in the Cudahy community.
